In this tutorial we will be learning how to reduce the noise within an audio file, and how to remove unwanted sounds, such as banging or clicking that would otherwise ruin the take. We want a nice clean sounding file so we can easily put it into any ambient track with noise interference.
I will be cleaning a track that I recorded of a bird’s song, recorded with the Edirol-09hr. Below is the raw file. You can hear the noise, as well as a faint “banging” noise.
To make it easier to see what is going on when removing unwanted garbage in audio files, you should always turn on the Spectral Graph (
). It’s located right next to the selection tools.
